In addition to general lighting (home, business, industrial, etc.), automotive lighting has also been named to grow significantly. CLSA said in the latest corporate report that the automotive market currently accounts for about 8% of global LED demand, mainly for interior lights (such as dashboards, door lights, reading lights, etc.), with low technical barriers. However, more and more car manufacturers are beginning to adopt LEDs for the rigorous headlights.
According to Lyon, in the past two years, only high-end cars (retail price of more than 50,000 US dollars) use LED as the headlights, and the overall demand is less than 50 million US dollars. However, as more and more automakers use LEDs as headlights, this demand will grow threefold next year. For example, in 2014 Toyota's new Corolla, LEDs are used as standard equipment for the near-headlights. It is expected that the mid-level vehicles of the same class as Corolla will also follow soon.
The legal person pointed out that the interior lights are mostly low- and medium-power LED chips , and the package heat dissipation can be made of copper or aluminum with lower cost; but the headlights use high-power LED chips, which require higher heat dissipation, and must use higher cost ceramic substrates. The demand for such lamp applications will become the potential kinetic energy of domestic ceramic substrate factories, such as Tongxin's future revenue.
Lyon estimates that Tongxin’s market share in LED headlights will increase from 55% this year to 75% in the following year, and its LED ceramic substrate revenue will grow by more than 20% next year. Lyon maintains a purchase rating for Tongxin Electric. It is estimated that the EPS for this year and next year will be 10 yuan and 13.2 yuan respectively, giving a target price of 190 yuan.
