Abstract: The typical operating frequency range of the MAX2640 is 400MHz to 2500MHz. Using an additional matching circuit, it can work at 345MHz, with a gain of about 17dB and a noise figure (NF) of 1.4dB. ADS was used to simulate the design, and the network analyzer's observations confirmed its performance. The typical operating frequency range of the MAX2640 is 400MHz to 2500MHz, but after adding Lnew and Cnew, it can work at 345MHz. At this time, it has a gain of nearly 17dB and a noise figure (NF) of 1.4dB. Cut the input wire on the upper side of ZM1 and add a Lnew (approximately 43nH) to the circuit board. Lnew and the 18pF input parallel capacitor Cnew together form the input matching required by the LNA. The matching line ZM1 also needs to be moved. A simulation design system (ADS) is used for simulation and a new matching response is obtained through a network analyzer.

The MAX2640 is a low-cost ultra-low noise amplifier designed for applications in cellular, PCS, GPS, and 2.4GHz ISM bands. It uses + 2.7V to + 5.5V power supply, consumes only 3.5mA and has low noise figure, high gain and high third-order input intercept point (IP3). The typical performance parameters of the MAX2640 at 900MHz are: 15.1dB gain, -10dBm input IP3, and 0.9dB noise figure.
