The Mobike Bike Program, the world's largest provider of smart shared bicycle services, uses AT&T and Qualcomm's IoT solutions to support its pile-free smart bikes in the United States.
AT&T's 4G LTE connectivity, combined with Qualcomm's LTE IoT modem and Mobility's smartphone app, will help users easily locate the nearest Mobike, unlock and securely pay. At the end of the ride, the user can return the bicycle to the designated "Mobbi Bike Recommended Parking Point (MPL)" or any regular bicycle parking area.
Currently, Mobike has operated more than 7 million smart bicycles in more than 160 cities around the world.
These bikes are equipped with Mobility's smart locks and use Qualcomm's MDM9206 global multimode LTE IoT modem to support longer battery life, deeper connection coverage in challenging environments and support for mobile IoT applications. The LTE IoT connectivity in the modem and integrated Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning capabilities help motorcyclists identify available bicycles, quickly turn on smart locks, and assist with real-time management while continuously monitoring cycling status.
Since all vehicles support the Global Positioning System (GPS), Mobike can dispatch bicycles where they are most needed. The AT&T network will help Mobikes collect detailed usage data for each of the bicycles required for such dynamic management. At the peak of demand, Mobike can even offer rewards to users of its app, moving bicycles from more remote locations to densely populated areas of the city. This data can help schedule smart bikes and help city planning agencies build smart urban transport infrastructure.
