California Micro Devices (CAMD) today announced the availability of the ultra-low capacitance electrostatic discharge (ESD) device PicoGuard CM1227 for the most advanced digital consumer and computer applications. The CM1227 provides four channels of +/-15kV contact ESD protection and exceeds the IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 standard. Today's most advanced digital consumer and computer applications, such as digital TVs, set-top boxes, computers and computer peripherals, are increasingly using advanced high-speed serial interfaces such as USB 3.0, MIPI(R), eSATA, DisplayPort and FireWire. These low-voltage signal interfaces require extremely high rise and fall times, and capacitive loads typically do not achieve this speed for ESD protection devices installed on signal lines. The CM1227 features an industry-leading 0.35pF low capacitance level that provides robust ESD protection and superior signal integrity.
