Babylon Health, a British medical startup, has developed a chat robot that can consult patients and find out the real problems of the body. Babylon claims that the diagnostic accuracy of this system is not inferior to doctors. According to reports, Babylon’s chat bot can assess symptoms and find out the real physical problems as long as they talk to patients, but it still cannot be an official diagnosis.
The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) is an association of British and overseas medical doctors. All British doctors must pass the association's examination. Babylon tested its chat robot with RCGP archaeological questions, and got 82% of the results in the first exam, which was higher than the average of 72% of human doctors.
Bablyon CEO Ali Parsa said that AI medical services are expected to reduce the burden on the medical system. The company's goal is to allow everyone to enjoy affordable medical services.
However, RCGP vice chairman MarTIn Marshall believes that technology can help doctors improve the quality of care is a great thing, but computers are still computers after all. Medical doctors are well-trained professional medical personnel. Computers can assist doctors, but they can never replace doctors.
