EtherCAT wins support from many drive companies

At present, 40 manufacturers have prepared or have announced the release of their high-performance EtherCAT servo drive products to the market. The support from these vendors clearly shows that EtherCAT has become the dominant communication technology in the field of motion control: there is no other industrial Ethernet technology that can own the multiple product supply markets of so many drive manufacturers. The ETG booth at the SPS/IPC/Drives in Nuremberg 2008 demonstrated the success of EtherCAT technology. Higher performance, lower costs, and flexible topologies are the root causes of the choice of EtherCAT technology by many servo vendors and their customers. EtherCAT's distributed clocking mechanism eliminates the need to install any special hardware on the master station to achieve precise drive synchronization. Many motion control vendors have decided to use EtherCAT as their system communication bus.

However, EtherCAT's R&D is not limited to the field of motion control. It also applies to sensors and I/O applications. With EtherCAT, multiple traditional fieldbus systems can be quickly replaced. EtherCAT products from 40 servo-driven manufacturers in 13 countries have exceeded the application of motion control fieldbus systems for decades. EtherCAT has gradually become the world's leading motion control standard. In fact, more manufacturers are still in the process of developing EtherCAT servo drives, but they have not publicly announced new products. At the SPS/IPC/Drives exhibition, the ETG booth has demonstrated the application of different products from multiple manufacturers working together in the same EtherCAT system. In addition, a total of 170 EtherCAT products from 59 companies were exhibited at the stand.

EtherCAT

EtherCAT technology sets new standards for real-time performance and flexible topology, while also meeting user requirements for low cost. EtherCAT has high precision device synchronization and offers cable redundancy and a functional security protocol (SIL3). EtherCAT Technology Association EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG) The EtherCAT Technology Association (ETG) is an international neutral organization founded in November 2003. End-users and leading automation equipment providers from a variety of industrial sectors serve as members of the organization to jointly support, promote and promote the development of EtherCAT technology. Currently supported by 920 member companies from 44 countries, ETG has grown to become the world's fastest growing industrial Ethernet technology organization.
