When designing a meter reading system, the most critical technique is the way of meter reading. At present, the meter reading methods of the meter mainly include: manual meter reading, low-voltage power line carrier meter reading, field bus or RS-485 bus meter reading, and hand-held terminal (computer) manual meter reading. Handheld terminal (computer) manual meter reading is an ideal way to read the meter in the community. It has the characteristics of simple system, reliable and complete data, convenient operation and low maintenance cost. Time-saving and labor-saving meter reading can avoid accidental copying. The communication between the handheld terminal and the meter can be wireless communication or infrared communication, and infrared communication is widely used.
Based on the existing technology, this paper proposes a design scheme of a new infrared meter reading system based on P89LPC932 microprocessor. Compared with the existing similar systems, the system has the characteristics of simple structure, low power consumption and low cost, which can measure multiple powers and save data for a long time.
1 The overall structure of the meter reading system The overall structure block diagram of the infrared meter reading system is shown in Figure 1. The system consists of two parts: a multi-function meter and a hand-held meter reading terminal, which communicate via infrared. The multi-function watt-hour meter can measure a variety of power consumption data (such as power consumption, power factor, power consumption, etc.) under the control of the single-chip microcomputer, and can calculate the electricity cost according to different ratios according to the power factor. The multi-function meter can record all kinds of data obtained and keep the data from being lost in case of power failure. The hand-held meter reading terminal can read the multi-function meter through infrared rays, store various data stored in the meter to the meter reading terminal, and then the meter reading terminal transmits the stored data to the computer through the serial port for processing. The MCUs of the multi-function meter and the hand-held meter reading terminal use the P89LPC932 recently produced by Philips. The MCU is not only powerful, but also simple in interface, fast in processing speed, low in price, low in power consumption, and integrated with multiple system-level functional components. This is one of the features of system design.
