Japanese researchers make progress in developing large-capacity batteries with sodium perchlorate

It is reported that lithium batteries are currently used in smart phones and notebook computers. However, although lithium batteries have large capacity, there is a danger of heat and fire after long-term use. The research team at Qualtec Japan focused on sodium perchlorate with high solubility and studied how much electrolysis occurred at what voltage. It was found that the electrochemical window reached 3.2 volts, showing good characteristics, and the electrochemical window of the ordinary lead storage battery did not exceed 2 volts.

The above sodium perchlorate battery charge is convenient to flow in an aqueous solution, does not catch fire, and the charging time only takes 2-3 minutes. At present, due to the small electrochemical window, there is still a problem that the capacity is not large and needs to be solved. Researchers believe the technology can be used as an auxiliary battery for smartphones and electric vehicles. This technological achievement has opened up a new way for the development of large-capacity power storage devices.
