Litepanels turns the news studio towards green energy saving

Newsletter [translation / Joyce] Quincy ’s fourth news TV station WGEM-TV has used Litepanels ’LED lighting fixtures in its studio. QuincyNewspapers' director of funding, equipment and engineering Brady Dreasler said that the new LED lighting makes the studio warm, and the WGEM news station is also different because of the high-definition camera and new lighting.

Dreasler said that Litepanels' LED lamps bring many benefits to their employees, allowing them to wear suits in the summer. Before the renovation, the TV station was air-conditioned all day long, even if it had reached minus 20 degrees outdoors.

In fact, Litepanels' LED lamps emit so little heat to the outside world that in Quincy's KTTC-TV station, engineers only need to install small heaters under the studio table to survive the coldest winter.

According to the experience of Litepanels one year after the installation of KTTC, the energy and electricity savings can recover the cost of the investment in 3 years.

Redwood Media Group's lighting designer Steve Mulkey is responsible for transforming WGEM's news studio. He mainly used Sola 4 daytime balanced Fresnel lamps, which combined LED technology and traditional lamp design. He also combined daylight balanced 1x1 Flood and 1x1 Spot luminaires in the editing room, and used Sola ENG daylight Fresnel luminaires.
