The LED contains a number of high-current chips with a surface area of ​​two square millimeters, each corresponding to a different color, each chip can handle up to 4.5A current. This is expected to make the stage moving lights and exhibition lighting more compact and powerful.
The Osram Ostar Stage is equipped with high current chips based on thin film and UX:3 chip technology. The surface area of ​​each chip is 2mm2, which is twice that of the earlier version, but the package size is only slightly increased to 5.7mmx6.4mmx1.3mm. These include red film chips and green, blue and white UX:3 chips.
Each chip can withstand up to 4.5A, meaning more light can be emitted from a smaller surface area. At a sorting current of 1.4A, the typical luminous flux of the red chip is 140 lm, and the green chip reaches 280 lm. The "dark blue" chip has a light output of 1.8W. If operated at a maximum current of 4.5A, the brightness of each color will increase by a factor of 1.6.
Since the Osram Ostar Stage features a new ceramic converter, the white light chip will have a lifetime of 20,000 hours (L50/B50) and a brightness of over 1000 lm at full power output.
