The NE555 operates in an unsteady multivibrator mode, and the 3-pin output rectangular pulse drives the transistor VT to turn it on and off. When the VT changes from on to off, due to the action of the inductor L, the collector of the VT exhibits a spike voltage, which is rectified by the diode VD, filtered by the capacitor C2, and then regulated by the 78L05, and the V01 outputs a stable +5V voltage. Figure 2-63 shows the adjustable bipolar boost regulator power supply circuit composed of NE555.
Figure 2-64 shows the bipolar DC/DC regulator converter circuit constructed by NE555. The NE555's 3-pin output rectangular pulse drive transistor VT turns it on and off. When VT turns from on to off, the collector of VT exhibits a high peak voltage, which is rectified by diode VD1, filtered by capacitor C2, and then stabilized by 78L12 to obtain a stable output voltage of +12V. At the same time, the secondary voltage of the transformer T also appears peak voltage, rectified by the diode VD2, the capacitor C1 is filtered, and after 79L12 voltage regulation, the output is stable -12V voltage, and the two output currents can reach 30MA.
